Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to show, using a small model ski sliding on a flat sand slope, that by setting a ski on its left/right edge in a straight downhill run that this will lead to a left/rightward turn. The turn is assisted by an accompanying upward flex of the tip section. The result is supported by a field experiment with a real ski on snow. Keywords
