Abstract
Denervation of the bladder was demonstrated in 8 of 28 patients following abdominoperineal excision of the rectum. It is suggested that routine postoperative bladder-function studies be performed to detect this complication and thus to enable suitable postoperative care and long-term follow-up to be undertaken. Keywords
