Theory of Induced-Torque Anomalies in Potassium

Abstract
The bizarre torque anisotropies observed by Schaefer and Marcus in single-crystal spheres of potassium show that the Fermi surface is neither simply connected nor of cubic symmetry. We show further that a charge-density-wave structure provides a complete account of the observed behavior.Keywords
