Abstract
The possibility of observing quantum size effects in very small metal particles by absorption spectroscopy is reexamined. According to the Gor’kov-Eliashberg theory, nonquadratic frequency dependence of the absorption coefficient persists at sufficiently low frequencies even when there is a size distribution. Keywords
