Abstract
Contingencies of reinforcement throw light on contingencies of survival in the evolution of behavior. The provenance of behavior, identification of phylogenic and ontogenic variables, interrelations among phylogenic and ontogenic variables, and misleading similarities in phylogenic and ontogenic contingencies are topics discussed. Keywords
