Abstract
The infection enhancing effect (IEE) of cortisone was studied in mice infected with Mycobacterium phlei, M. tuberculosis and M. bovis. The IEE of cortisone in terms of viable counts was expressed more strongly in the spleen than in the lung. The IEE was remarkable in virulent infection but not in saprophytic infection. The IEE was manifested several days after infection but not at earlier stages.
