Abstract
A crystalline form of europium thenoyltrifluoroacetonate (EuTTA) with an mp of 164°—166°C has been prepared. Measurements of absorption and emission spectra, fluorescence lifetime, and relative quantum yield have been made on solutions of EuTTA in acetone, toluene, and ethanol. From these measurements the required laser threshold concentration of excited EuTTA molecules in acetone at room temperature for a laser cavity with an optical loss of 1%/cm is calculated to be 2.3×1017 cm—3.Keywords
