GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS Salinger1reviewed the statistical results of the treatment of malignant diseases of the upper portion of the respiratory tract in German and other European clinics and compared them with those obtained in some of the American clinics. He concluded that the greatest progress had been made in the field of irradiation, and that the technics of protracted, fractional roentgen therapy and teleroentgen therapy developed by Coutard, Berven and Hegener offered the most hope for the future.
