Abstract
OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to describe the features of pyogenic ventriculitis (ventricular empyema, pyocephalus) on diffusion-weighted MR imaging.CONCLUSION. Markedly increased signal intensity of dependent intraventricular fluid on diffusion-weighted MR imaging and an apparent diffusion coefficient that is less than that of normal cerebral white matter indicate restricted water diffusion in purulent fluid and suggest the diagnosis of pyogenic ventriculitis. Keywords
