Abstract
The action of LDH [lactate dehydrogenase] to oxidize and reduce glyoxylate was confirmed in various fractions of purification from hog heart extract. The action of crystalline LDH to oxidize and reduce glyoxylate was also studied. The ability of substrates to protect the destruction of crystalline LDH by heating was determined. At each stage of purification of the enzyme in the nuclear, mitochondrial, microsomal fractions and in the supernatant of rat liver, the ratio of activity of the enzyme toward pyruvate (or lactate) and glyoxylate remained constant. It is suggested that LDH plays an important role in oxidation and reduction of glyoxylate. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
