Cotton Strains Resistant to the Cotton Fleahopper12

Abstract
Glabrous and hirsute experimental strains of Gossypium hirsutum L. were evaluated in cage. small-plot, and field experiments for the influence of these 2 characters against the cotton fleahopper, Psallus seriatus (Reuter). The glabrous character suppressed populations of fleahoppers below economically damaging levels and was as effective as some recommended insecticides. The sources of this character did not alter the degree of plant resistance. nor did the presence or absence of pigment glands or nectaries.
