DURING 60 1-HR ACQUISITION TRIALS ON A RIFLE-MARKSMANSHIP TASK, 20 HIGH-SCHOOL MALES ENCOUNTERED LOW STRESS WHILE ANOTHER 20 SS ENCOUNTERED HIGH STRESS. SUBSEQUENTLY, ALL SS RECEIVED 24 TRANSFER TRIALS, 1/2 OF EACH GROUP OPERATING UNDER UNCHANGED STRESS LEVELS AND 1/2 UNDER REVERSED STRESS LEVELS. THE RESULTS SUGGEST THAT STRESS AFFECTS TRANSFER PERFORMANCE THROUGH STIMULUS GENERALIZATION, ACQUISITION SKILL LEVEL, AND DIRECTLY. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
