Abstract
A previously reported assay for serum glucose, in which hexokinase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase were used, was improved to replace the light-sensitive phenazine methosulfate with "diaphorase," providing a one-reagent system. The assay system was automated for use with standard AutoAnalyzer equipment and evaluated at 40 and 60 samples per hour with a 2:1 sample-to-wash ratio. Sensitivity, precision, accuracy, and sample interaction were quite satisfactory at both sample rates.
