For some years in the department of metabolism at the Montreal General Hospital examination of the fundus of the eye has formed a part of the routine in all cases of diabetes. The examination has consisted in a diligent search for pathologic conditions of the interior of the eye, with special reference to the appearance of the retinal vessels. In all cases the examinations have been conducted with the pupils dilated. For uniformity of interpretation of the conditions seen, practically all the examinations have been made by myself. In this paper I cannot present much more than a brief report of the conditions found.
