Abstract
We have measured the differential Stark shift in the 6s6p3P1 state of mercury. The technique we used was to measure the shift in the magnetic-field level crossing in 199Hg when an additional electric field was applied. We obtained the value E(mJ=±1) - E(mJ=0) =-2.367±0.024 kHz/(kV/cm)2. ∊2, where ∊ is the electric field. Keywords
