Abstract
Hypo-physectomy of male rats produces a gradual decline in both wt. and ascorbic acid content of the preputial and adrenal glands. 3 weeks post-operatively, when the concn. of ascorbic acid is at a low level in both of these glands, it can be further reduced by a single intraven. injn. of ACTH. A 7-day treatment, begun 2 weeks post-operatively, reverses the gradual decline in wt. of preputial and adrenal glands but has little effect on their ascorbic acid content. As in intact animals, there is a close parallelism in response of preputial and adrenal glands to ACTH.Keywords
