Spurious First-Order Phase Transitions in the Self-Consistent Phonon Approximation

Abstract
It is shown that when the self-consistent phonon approximation is applied to displacive phase transitions, it leads to inconsistent results near the transition point, and that this may give rise to spurious first-order transitions.Keywords
