Stimulated Thermal Scattering of Short Light Pulses

Abstract
The value of the frequency shift in the spectrum of the stimulated thermal scattering, Δν, is shown to be proportional to the amplitude and the inverse duration of the incident light pulse and to depend in a minor way on its spectral width Δν0. Under ordinary experimental conditions in liquids, the calculation yields Δν0.002 cm1Δν020.01 cm1. The relation ΔνΔν0 is experimentally confirmed.
