College women during the last three decades have increased in size. The studies1made at Stanford University of 4,170 women students who entered during a period of thirty years show at the time of admission not only an increase in weight but also an increase of 1.2 inches in average height. These results have been confirmed by the Vassar College statistics2based on the examinations of 7,064 women during thirty-seven years, an investigation which shows an increase in height "well over 1.5 inches"; and also by Smith College measurements3of 10,149 women during a period of twentytwo years. Table 1 gives the data concerning height for Stanford University, Vassar College and Smith College individually in year groups, with the number of cases, and the average height for each year, and also shows the same data for 21,383 women, the combined examinations from the three institutions.
