Some Effects of Freezing in the Leaf, and of Citrate in vitro, on the Infectivity of a Tobacco Necrosis Virus

Abstract

Virus prepns., prepared by freezing before mincing are more potent and it is suggested that mincing sets in action a mechanism that increases infectivity. Infectivity but not serological activity is lost on exposure to 0.02-0.01 [image] neutral citrate and this effect varies with many physical factors.
