Familial Incidence of Diabetes in Hyperthyroidism

Abstract
There is a significantly increased incidence of diabetes in the pedigrees of patients with hyperthyroidism compared with a control series that is matched for age and sex. The hyperthyroid patients who had family histories positive for diabetes are somewhat younger and have more severe diabetes, as measured by clinical and laboratory findings, than those whose family histories were negative for diabetes.
