Tetradecyl Acetate and Related Compounds as Inhibitors of Attraction of the Pink Bollworm Moth1 to the Sex Lure Hexalure2

Abstract
Tetradecyl acetate and several related compounds when combined with hexalure (cis-7-hexadecen-l-ol acetate) suppress the attraction of pink bollworm, Peclinophora gossypiella (Saunders), moths to hexalure. If these chemicals inhibit the detection of the natural female sex attractant, they may be useful in preventing male moths from locating females for mating.
