Ground-state diatomic potentials

Abstract

Extended-Rydberg potentials have been derived for the ground states of all diatomic molecules obtained from atoms in the periodic list Li to Cl for which accurate spectroscopic data are available. From a comparison with RKR data where these are known we conclude that this simple function is an excellent representation of the potential in the valence region.
