Studies on Pyridoxine Metabolism

Abstract
The pyridoxine phosphate content and pyridoxine phosphate oxidase activity of rat liver were increased by administration of cortisone, hydroxy-cortisone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, especially in the hypophy-sectomized animal, and by the stresses unless hypophysis was exstirpated. They were lowered by adrenalectomy, which could be protected by injection of hydroxycortisone. Deoxycorticosterone gave no significant influence on them. Pyridoxal phosphate was slightly enrichied by cortisone alone out of those hormones tested.
