Abstract
Experimental data for the π+pη+n reaction near threshold are analyzed by using the Breit-Wigner resonance formulas for S12 and D32 states. It is shown that the effects of D32 are comparable to or larger than those of S12 in the neighborhood of the observed peak of σ(π+pη+n), and that from only the data for σ(π+pη+n), the mass (ωr) of the S12 resonant state cannot be determined unambiguously without knowledge of its partial widths. In order to get some information concerning the partial widths Γη and Γπ of the S12 resonant state into the channels η+N and π+N, the γ+pη+p and γ+Nπ+N reactions are studied. As one of the methods to determine value of the ωr, measurements of energy spectrum of Σ in a reaction K+dK+p+η are suggested.
