Reduction of the CN bond by an NADH model

Abstract

Reduction of the iminium salts (2a), (3a), and (4a–c), with the Hantzsch ester (1), gives the corresponding ammonium salts, the reaction proceeding stereospecifically in the case of the steroidal systems (4a–c).
