Myopic Keratomileusis: 74 Consecutive Non-Amblyopic Cases With One Year of Follow-up

Abstract
Myopic keratomileusis (MKM) was performed on 96 patients in order to correct moderóte to severe myopia. Of the 80 non-amblyopes who underwent MKM, 74 were followed for at least 1 year postoperatively and the results are presented. These 74 patients had preoperative myopia which changed from -4.50 D to -14.00 D, average preoperative best corrected acuity of 20/25, and average postoperative uncorrected acuity of 20/40 - . The major complications encountered in this series of MKM patients was irregular astigmatism (9%). The authors present their experiences with the techniques of MKM, the postoperative course, and the results of their initial, consecutive series of MKM patients.
