Abstract
The method recently developed by Butler, Hewitt, McKellar, and May (BHMM) is used in an analysis of the ground-state reaction for six different deuteron energies. The BHMM expression for the () differential cross section depends only on neutron and proton elastic-scattering wave functions. In the present work, these are generated by optical parameters so chosen as to give elastic-scattering cross sections in satisfactory agreement with experiment. The () angular distributions are then also found to be in good agreement with experiment. It is determined that the spectroscopic factor relating to the - overlap has the value 0.56±0.04.
