Abstract
Diffusion in solids, including the isotope effect, is discussed within the short-memory augmented-rate theory recently introduced by Toller, Jacucci, De Lorenzi, and Flynn. Terms in the jump rate for an anharmonic expansion of the barrier potential are presented complete to first order in and evaluated for vacancy diffusion in models of Ar, Ag, and Cu.
