Linkage groups and chromosome number in Lathyrus

Abstract

A brief outline of a study of 19 characters used in a study of linkage groups. There are 5 groups of factors, 1 containing 5 factors and the other 4 3 factors each. Besides the 5 groups, 2 other characters were found to assort independently of each other and independently of the 5 groups. Hence the number of linkage groups identified is 7, which is also the haploid number of chromosomes.
