Abstract
Calculations of the effects of polydispersity on the spectral distribution of terms broadened solely by translational diffusion in the light scattered from dilute solutions of rigid rods and Gaussian coils have been performed. It is assumed that the degree of polydispersity follows Schulz's distribution and that the translational diffusion coefficient depends on molecular weight through the standard relation, D = CM −a , where C and α are constants. Tables of the spectra are given in reduced form for both rods and coils for α = 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 .
