The microwave-assisted polyol synthesis of nanosized hard magnetic material, FePt

Abstract
In this paper, we report on the first microwave synthesis of FePt nanoparticles. The advantages of the described process are its simplicity, the short reaction time, and their easy preparation. The structure and composition of FePt nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), magnetic measurements, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The particle size of the product was 23 nm, as determined from the XRD measurements, and 2.1 as measured from the HRTEM. The measured coercivity at room temperature was 4600 Oe.
