Adrenal Hemorrhage

Abstract
An autopsy study of 33 cases of "idio-pathic" adrenal apoplexy is reported, together with a comparison of the microscopic morphology of the adrenal in this condition and in fatal meningococcemia. The microscopic appearance of the glands was similar in all cases. Severe stress, shock and adrenal vein thrombosis were common denominators in the majority of a wide variety of clinical conditions associated with adrenal hemorrhage. A theory of the pathogenesis of all types of adrenal hemorrhage relating these factors is proposed.
