Evidence for Genetic Control of Polyacetylene Production in a Basidiomycete

Abstract
Variability of polyacetylene production in cultures of a basidiomycete was studied in single-spore isolates obtained from a laboratory-grown fruiting body. The homokaryons showed distinct differences, which were inherited in the progeny resulting from controlled crosses. Association of enhanced polyacetylene production with certain types of combinations was observed in this sp.
