Abstract
An electron density map of the TMV disk at 5 Å resolution has been obtained using isomorphous replacement and non-crystallographic symmetry. The polypeptide chain can be traced with little ambiguity. The axial contacts between protein subunits are unlike those in the virus, the disk being a more open structure apparently designed for rapid interaction with the RNA.Keywords
