Abstract
The frequency distribution spectrum of the normal modes of vibration for a noncentral force model of indium has been approximated by a root‐sampling technique. Interactions between an atom and its first and second‐nearest neighbors were considered, the interatomic force constants being evaluated from the room‐temperature elastic constants of indium. The calculated specific heat of indium from 4° to 80°K is in fairly good agreement with experiment. Keywords
