Abstract
A simple box model was developed to assess the impact of biogenic emissions on rural air quality. High emission fluxes and most‐favorable meteorological conditions were used to estimate an upper limit to the ozone‐forming potential of biogenic hydrocarbons from a hypothetical forest in central North Carolina. The results suggest that natural hydrocarbons are not a significant source of ozone in rural areas. Keywords
