Abstract
In the frame of the quark-pair-creation model (QPCM) of strong decays, the puzzling coupling properties of the Roper resonance are shown to derive from the standard assignment as a radial excitation belonging to a 56 multiplet. The agreement is obtained through nonlocal effects specific to the QPCM.Keywords
