Abstract
Insulin and glucagon release from monolayer pancreatic islet cell cultures were inhibited in a dose-response fashion by various enkephalins. Morphine, however, stimulated insulin and glucagon release. Both effects were blocked by naloxone, while naloxone alone had no effect.
