The Magnetostriction of Single Crystals of Iron-Silicon Alloys

Abstract
The spontaneous magnetostriction of iron-silicon alloys can be adequately described by two constants h1 and h2. For ordered alloys h1 goes through zero at about 11 atomic percent silicon, h2 at about 9 atomic percent silicon. In disordered alloys, in the composition range around 10 percent silicon, h1 is somewhat larger than for the ordered alloys.
