The name Amblyosporium spongiosum (Pers.) Hughes is adopted for A. botrytis auct. non Fres. A. botrytis Fres. is shown to be distinct. Searchomyces coprophiloides B. S. & M. D. Mehrotra, monotype species of Searchomyces, is transferred into Amblyosporium as A. coprophiloides (B. S. & M. D. Mehrotra) comb. nov., and a new species, A. thaxteri, is described.
