Studies on an Interstitial Cell Tumor of the Testis:Formation of Cortisol-14C from Acetate-1-14C1

Abstract
Slices of an interstitial cell tumor of the testis removed from a 310/12[long dash]yr-old boy were incubated with acetate-1-C14. Labeled 4-androstene-3,17-dione, 11[beta]-hydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione, 4-androstene-3,ll,17-trione,3[beta]-hydroxy-5-pregnen-20-one, 17-hydroxy-4-pregnene-3,20 dione and cortisol were isolated. These results are discussed with reference to the steroid biosynthetic patterns observed in other human testicular tumors and in testicular tissue of other vertebrates.
