Electrical responses from the cochlea of the fetal guinea pig.

Abstract
Appropriate stimulation of the ears of operatively exposed but otherwise normal fetal guinea pigs leads to the production of cochlear effects (Wever-Bray effects) at least as early as 52 post-insemination days. At this age, a cochlear response of 1-2 [mu]V peak was obtained to a stimulus of 600 c.p.s. and intensity 100 db. above the human threshold. Higher voltages were recorded from older fetuses, for example, 100 [mu]V at 62 post-insemination days.
