Menthol Relaxation of Helminths before Fixation

Abstract
A saturated soln. of menthol in 95% alcohol, or menthol in powdared or crystalline form, added to water in sufficient amount for saturation, had distinct advantages over the methods usually employed for adult flukes, metacercariae, cercariae, rediae, acanthocephalans and leeches. It had a slight advantage over fixation in hot formalin or 70% alcohol for nematodes, but for cestodes soaking in plain tap water was just as effective.
