Abstract
The magnetic and quadrupole moments of the radioactive isotopes and have been measured by atomic-beam magnetic resonance. Measurements were made of the hyperfine structure of these isotopes in the state of the scandium atom. The results (without diamagnetic or Sternheimer corrections) are : Mc/sec, Mc/sec, nm, b. : Mc/sec, Mc/sec, nm, b. The electronic value in both cases was close to the LS-coupling value, and consistent with previous measurements on . The mean value of was determined from , , and to be . Using this, the moments were recalculated. A discussion of the interpretation of the moments of the scandium isotopes is included.
