Epidemiological Notes on Meningococcal Meningitis in the Army

Abstract
The incidence of meningococcal meningitis in the Army during 1943 has been lower than in 1918. The geographic distribution was fairly uniform and definite relationship between size of post and meningitis incidence is shown. Possible relationship between respiratory disease prevalence and meningitis is explored and evidence of association obtained. Control measures are discussed and it is stated that the outlook both for treatment and prevention has been radically improved by the sulfonamides.
