Clonal Expansion of Lipopolysaccharide-Stimulated B Lymphocytes

Abstract
The effect of lipopolysaccharide from Gram-negative bacteria (LPS) on the activation and clonal expansion of B cell precursors specific for SRC has been studies in a microculture system. Results indicate that LPS can activate the precursor cells to antibody production in the absence of antigen and without significant cell proliferation. Clonal expansion will ensure only if LPS and SRC are present.
