Abstract
Pangola grass requires a minimum of 2% K on the dry wt. basis to maintain max. growth. Na will substitute for approx. 2/3 of the K requirement without reduction of dry wt. production. The K requirement of other grasses studied was 1/2 to 1/7 that of Pangola. Na did not directly benefit these grasses. NaNO3 is of particular value as a fertilizer for Pangola grass on sandy soils in the summer when leaching has reduced the available soil K.
