Cardiovascular Disease in Cotton Workers: Part I

Abstract
There is an association between mortality and dust exposure in the 3 occupational groups studied: strippers and grinders, weavers, and spinners. The significantly high death rate of strippers and grinders (the occupation with the highest dust exposure) from cerebral vascular lesions supports the hypothesis that hyperpiesis may be the cause of this excess mortality. Corrections are made for unreliable mortality rates and discussed.
