Abstract
A study was made of the cardiac output, pulse rate, blood pressure, temperature, and O consumption of 8 individuals after the intramuscular injection of typhoid vaccine. The cardiac output was found greatly elevated soon after the injection but did not follow the malaise and pyrexia throughout the course of the reaction. At the height of the malaise the cardiac output, although still above normal, was less than during the preceding period. Pulse rate and O consumption varied uniformly with the degree of malaise and the pyrexia. The physiological implications of these results are discussed.
